Welcome to Natural is a Victoria-based provider of all things natural, proudly made on Prince Edward Island. They believe that the best products for your body, your home, and your spirit come from natural ingredients, small-batch care, and a deep connection to place. Looking to expand beyond Island Potato Soap Co., they wanted a website to showcase and sell handmade products for their new trademarked brand.
A Welcome Addition
Welcome to Natural needed a new e-commerce platform to support their new brand and identity. We designed and built a Shopify site with an east-coast inspired colour palette and premium theme with custom CSS updates. The theme was then further customized to allow for more functionality and advanced filtering options.
The home page showcases their best-selling natural products, local music collection and establishes the Welcome to Natural core values. We included sections with links to their About and Island Potato Soap pages, the foundation of their new brand. We included a Made in Canada section which reiterates the Welcome to Natural mission.
From Design to Development
We created a design brief with a coastal-inspired new colour palette to complement Welcome to Natural’s product selection. The core palette is a white background, which is paired with shades of teal green and navy blue to add richness and contrast.
From the design brief, we further refined our design by creating a first draft in Shopify. We refined our design through 2 versions with the final version presented to the client for approval.
Custom Product Pages
Enriched Product Information
Custom product pages are enriched with metafields to show off key information for customers.
With a wide range of product types, ingredients and even downloadable music, these customizations are vital to display more than a plain product description. Additional information like ingredients, how to use and product benefits are displayed based on individual product data.
Making the Most out of Metafields
Product metafields were created for extra functionality and ease of use for anyone browsing the site. Customers can now filter by brand or product type, making the shopping experience even better.
The client wanted to include downloadable music and songs from local Prince Edward Island artists. We used metafields to host song previews as well as artist bios for each individual track. We integrated an MP3 app to allow customers to download not only music files but also sheet music and song lyrics.

We migrated Island Potato Soap Co. to its new home under the Welcome to Natural brand. Reviews, photos and other product data was migrated from Weebly to the new Shopify website.

The existing product descriptions were streamlined to enhance SEO. To optimize the UX design of product pages, any additional product information was migrated into metafields to make the shopping experience more enjoyable.

We researched and installed a premium theme, which was carefully customized to better complement the new Welcome to Natural brand.
To showcase Welcome to Natural’s dedication to sustainability and locally made products, we created custom About Us and Island Potato Soap pages, as well as FAQ sections to tell the brand’s unique story.
