What started out as a hobby for Julia, the owner and creator of Light & Salt Soap Co, has become a passion and full-time business. Light & Salt products are handmade in small batches in Ontario using high quality natural ingredients. The ethos of Light & Salt is creating healthier, yet luxurious alternatives to products that we use every day.

A Fresh New Feel

We completely refreshed Light & Salt’s existing Shopify site with a fresh new colour palette using their existing theme and added custom CSS updates, like a new mega navigation. The theme was then further customized to allow for more functionality and advanced filtering options.

The home page showcases some of her most popular and best-selling products, as well as custom smart collections like a men’s For Him collection. We focused on telling the Light & Salt story, including focusing on made in Canada and showcasing some of her positive product reviews.

Custom Product Pages

Enriched product information

Custom product pages are enriched with metafields to show off important information for customers.

With a wide range of product types, ingredients and featured safe additives, these customizations are vital to display more than a plain product description. Additional information is displayed based on individual product data. We created custom metafields to display Featured Ingredients on product pages, as well as automatically the Ingredients Page.

Simple Filtering & Sorting

Product metafields were employed for extra functionality and ease of use for anyone browsing the site. Customers can now filter by product type, skin type, scent and more, making the shopping experience even better.

Product pages were also upgraded with complimentary products, to allow customers to easily purchase additional items without leaving the product page.

Project Outline

  • The existing product descriptions were streamlined to enhance SEO. To optimize the UX design of product pages, all additional product information was migrated into metafields to simplify the shopping experience. Customers can now see Featured Ingredients showcased at the bottom of the product page.

  • We customized Light & Salt’s existing theme, which was carefully customized to match Julia’s luxury soap brand.

    We created a custom mega navigation so customers can easily shop by product type, skin type or by any other featured collections.
